Operation P.E.D.S comes to Bradenton

Bradenton, Florida -- On April 12, the Florida Highway Patrol will begin Operations P.E.D.S. in Bradenton. 

Operation P.E.D.S. is a detail that reduces pedestrian and cyclist related traffic crashes. Troopers will be looking for pedestrian, bicycle and motorist violations that occur at or near intersections. 

This enforcement detail will take place on U.S. 41 between State Road 70 and Cortez Road. It will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In Manatee County in 2012, the Florida Highway Patrol investigated 12 pedestrian fatality crashes.

Tampa Bay, Florida--  The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) invites residents from seven local counties to join in upcoming talks about the region's future transportation plans and priorities.

TBARTA reps say they will host telephone "TownHall meetings" for 10 days starting Monday, April 1.

An automated system will call between 40,000 and 80,000 per night to extend an invite to the forum, and then TBARTA reps will take it from there to answer questions and respond to comments.

Bradenton, Florida -- Now through March 16, Sarasota County Police is joining other law enforcement agencies to help save lives by strictly enforcing seat belt laws around the clock.

Sinage will be posted reading "Click It or Ticket" at different locations throughout the city to remind drivers that buckling up is the law and if you don't it'll cost you $116.

Motorists use caution as statewide march travels through next week

Manatee County, Florida -- Manatee County officials are urging motorists to use caution on one of the area’s busiest major roads as a parade route marches through the heart of Bradenton on Sunday and Monday.

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers annual March for Rights, Respect and Fair Food will travel through Manatee County on March 10 and 11 as part of a 200-mile march of farm workers and their allies from Fort Myers to Lakeland from March 3-17.

Bradenton, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is focusing on pedestrian safety.

Starting March 1, 2013, the Florida Highway Patrol will begin operation P.E.D.S- Pedestrian Education and Developing Safety. 

The operation will take place on U.S. 41 between State Road 70 and Bayshore Gardens Parkway and will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Drivers advised to use caution during traffic signal retiming project

Manatee County, Florida -- Manatee County officials are asking local drivers to use extra caution on County roads in coming months as traffic signals at several intersections around the County are adjusted and retimed under the second major implementation of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).

The retiming project begins on Monday, Jan. 14.

Phase I Retiming project was completed in  March along several major arteries in Manatee County.
