Manatee, Florida -- Only two months after local officials traveled to Washington D.C. to request additional federal funding for Wares Creek, the final piece of federal funding has been secured and the flood relief project will now be completed.

Commission will consider voter referendum on tax issues

Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee County Commission on Tuesday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. is scheduled to discuss a referendum on community tax issues.

The Board is expected to make a final decision on whether to hold a public referendum on June 18, 2013 – as currently scheduled – or to move it to August 6, 2013.

The meeting will feature Manatee Genealogical Society member Phyllis Douchette presenting "Migration from new England to the Midwest."

Computer special interest group director Currie Colket will review "Exploring Stephen P. Morse Webpages using One-Step to Facilitate Access to Genealogy Datebases."

The meeting will take place at the manatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. 

It will last from 9:30 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Warner’s Bayou Boat Ramp closure extended two months

Manatee County, Florida – Manatee County officials say structural problems associated with the concrete seawalls at the Warner’s Bayou boat ramp have been discovered during renovations and will postpone the opening of the popular boat ramp two months.

The ramp is now expected to reopen in late June.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.
