3-year-old shot in the knee in Bradenton | News

Bradenton, Florida -- A 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the knee.

It happened late Monday night outside a home on 61st Avenue East in Bradenton.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says five adults were inside the home when they heard a gunshot. When they rushed outside, they found a gun on the ground next to the child, who had been shot in the knee.

Deputies say the boy was taken to All Children's Hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives from the crimes against children division are investigating the shooting. It's not clear at this time if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, or where the gun came from.
