Bradenton, Florida -- The first game of the Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training schedule takes place February 22 at the newly renovated McKechnie Field.
The Black and Gold Game gives fans an opportunity to watch baseball and help out a great cause. Tickets are just $8.00 and organizers say proceeds benefit the Manatee Educational Foundation, Wakeland Elementary School and G.D. Rogers Garden Elementary School.
The first of 18 games will last five-and-a-half innings. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. for Spring Training season ticket holders, and at 11 a.m. for everyone else.
The Grapefruit League home opener is Sunday, February 24 at 1 p.m. The Pirates will host the Braves. In addition to the 16 home Grapefruit League games, Team Spain will visit McKechnie Field for an exhibition game on Tuesday, March 5 at 1 p.m.
