District: Manatee County students set world record | Environment
Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee County students set a Guinness World Record at Sugg Middle School on Thursday.
The students collected more than 29,560 pounds of plastic bottles to be recycled, topping the previous eight-hour period record of 19,400.
Guinness will be validating the record to make it official on a date in the near future, according to a press release from the district.
The push for the record was part of the district's 2012 Recycling Round-Up.
