Six weeks, six themes of summer camps at South Florida Museum

Bradenton, Florida -- Just because it's summer, doesn't mean your kids have to stop learning. South Florida Museum Summer Science Camps will be a fun and interesting way for them to spend their break.

The camps are six weeks long, each focusing on different scientific themes from geology and engineering to forensic science and cosmic science. The camps will take place in the Museum classroom, the Museum itself, the Planetarium and Aquarium from June 11 through July 19. The camps are open to students entering grades 2-6.

Palmetto, Florida  -- Attendees to an annual music and entertainment fundraiser will get a very special treat! A Country Music Hall of Fame superstar will be performing at the Manatee School for the Arts this weekend.

Founder of Super Group ALABAMA, Jeff Cook, will perform at the 3rd annual Del Couch Music Education fundraiser on Saturday, May 4. Also taking the stage will be Rock n Roll icon Rick Derringer and 11-year-old Jake Castro who recently played at the Florida Strawberry Festival.

Myakka City, Florida -- Saddle up for the 2nd Annual Levi Dakin Memorial Ranch Rodeo and Bullriding event.

Gates open to the family-friendly event at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30. It's an action packed day with the Rodeo beginning at 2:00 p.m., a bounce house, pony rides, calf scramble, easter egg scramble and ending with bullriding. 

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids 6-12 and children 5-years-old and younger are free.

Anna Maria, Florida  -- Alongside some of the biggest names in music at the 78th Strawberry Festival this year - Martina McBride, Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins - will be 11-year-old Jake Castro from Manatee County.

The local musician is a premier member of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation in Manatee County. Castro started playing guitar when he was just 6-years-old and has a special place in his heart for 50's and 60's Rock and Roll, Blues and Latin Rock.
