BRADENTON, Florida (AP) - Charges are pending in the crash involving a Manatee County sheriff's deputy and a prisoner in his cruiser.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Deputy Nathaniel Boggs and prisoner Luis Jimenez were injured early Sunday morning after a car crossed the median and hit the deputy's vehicle.
The Herald Tribune reports Jimenez had a severe laceration above his eye. Boggs has a broken toe. The driver of the car that hit the cruiser, Mark Headley, broke his ankle in the crash.
According to FHP, Headley drove across the center median and hit the deputy's car around 2:50 a.m. Jimenez was under arrest and being taken to the Port Manatee Jail at the time of the accident.
