John Moore named Manatee Sheriff's Deputy of the Month | Community Spirit

Bradenton, Florida -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has announced Deputy John Moore as their first Deputy of the Month of the New Year.

The sheriff's office says on Oct. 24, 2012, Deputy Moore was patrolling in the Panther Ridge area when he saw a vehicle backed into a wooded area with two rubber hoses running from the tailpipe into the back windows and towels sealing the window openings.

Deputy Moore stopped the suicide attempt and removed the man from the car. He was taken to the hospital and reported to be in good condition.

In a release to the media, Sheriff Brad Steube credits Deputy Moore's diligent patrolling and keen observations as the reason this tragedy was avoided.
