Sarasota, Florida -- Robarts Arena was filled with tears and memories Thursday, as more than 2,000 people gathered to pay respects to Al Hogle.

The Longboat Key Police Chief died in a motorcycle accident on May 14 while on vacation in North Carolina. He was 63.
Hogle was a well known figure in both Sarasota and Manatee counties. He also served as Bradenton's police chief and was both a Sarasota city commissioner and the city's mayor.
