Sarasota, Florida -- To celebrate Goodwill Industries Week, May 6-10, Goodwill Manasota is offering an online drawing, a 50-percent apparel discount sale at area retail shops (May 4 and 5) and a virtual career fair. Culinary arts scholarships offered

Bradenton, Florida -- The Anna Maria Oyster Bar Scholarship program graciously provides five $1,000 scholarships to students entering culinary or hospitality fields of study at either a technical school or degree program.  

Applications for the scholarships are due to the Manatee Education Foundation office by May 25, 2013. The application can be found at The Scholarship Source on the Manatee Education Foundation website at, www.MEFinfo.org.

Bradenton, Florida -- There will be a  "Town Hall Meeting" where residents can meet new Manatee County Schools Superintendent Rick Mills and members of his leadership team.

Superintendent Mills will share his vision and leadership ideas for the Manatee District and will be available for questions and answers. 

It will be held at the Pathway Christian Fellowship Center at 329 6th Avenue West in Bradenton.

Armed home invasion robbery in Bradenton

Bradenton, Florida -- Detectives are looking for three men who robbed a local home in Bradenton. 

On May 4, around 2 in the morning, a trio of masked black males, armed with various weapons, including guns, forced their way into the rear of a home as the victims slept.  

The occupants included two women and a 7-month-old child. 

Once inside, the suspect took valuables from the home, and then fled.  

Making a Difference: 13th Avenue Dream Center

Bradenton, Florida -- 13th Avenue Dream Center is making a significant difference by positively impacting the lives of many children.

"They have an opportunity to see that it can be done and no one has forgotten about them," says Assistant Dean David Muhammad.

The children here say if the Dream Center didn't have its doors open, they don't know where they would be.

"They keep me active in sports, they keep me active in doing my homework... like, whenever I'm having trouble, they stop me from causing trouble," says student T'aliyah Bell.

Woman arrested for neglecting her 4 children

Manatee County, Florida -- A woman has been arrested for child neglect and her four children are now in the shelter of Child Protection Services.

While conducting a joint child welfare investigation with Manatee County Child Program Services, a deputy observed the home of the suspect to be in deplorable conditions. 

Some of the children, ages 5, 2, 1, and 6 months were left either unattended or outside playing next to a busy roadway.
