Pursuit of suspect ends in guns being shot

Bradenton, Florida -- An officer was shot during an on-foot pursuit on Saturday, June 8.

Around 2:15 p.m. Bradenton Police Officers responded to a home on 20th Street East in regard to a kidnapping complaint. 

Once the officers arrived a pursuit ensued and an officer was shot at, as was the suspect. The officer was not injured and is now on administrative leave.

Officer involved shooting in Bradenton leaves 1 dead

BRADENTON, Florida -- One person is dead after being shot by a Bradenton police officer during a chase.

The Bradenton Police Department says it responded to a kidnapping complaint on Saturday, June 8 in the 300 block of 20th St. East.

When officers arrived, an unidentified person allegedly fled on foot. The officers pursued the person to the 1800 block of East Manatee Ave., where the shooting happened.

The identities of the deceased and the officer involved are not being released at this time.

The officer was not injured and is now on administrative leave.

FCAT 2.0 results released

Bradenton, Florida -- Statewide FCAT results are out.

Manatee District students eclipsed state averages in Geometry and Biology 1 End of Course Exams as well as in 8th grade Science and in 8th grade Math according to FCAT 2.0 results released today by the Florida Department of Education.
