Explore 'The Hidden Life of Ants' at South Florida Museum

Bradenton, Florida (via South Florida Museum) -- Small yet abundant, with complex and wildly diverse lifestyles, ants are everywhere, living lives mostly hidden from our view.

What if we could see into their world . . . on their level? What would we learn? What parallels could we draw between them and us?

With the aid of a macro lens and the insights of ant expert and photographer Dr. Mark Moffett, the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History present the world of ants in "Farmers, Warriors, Builders: The Hidden Life of Ants,” a current exhibit featured at the South Florida Museum in Downtown Bradenton.

Restaurant review: Anna Maria Oyster Bar

Restaurant review: Anna Maria Oyster Bar

Bradenton, Florida (by Danielle Palli, via Metromix) -- With the exception of beef tacos and the occasional pepperoni pizza, I’m pretty convinced that I could live out the rest of my days eating nothing but seafood: raw oysters, steamed clams, Maine lobster, Alaskan King Crab, yellowfin tuna, escargot, blackened basa, grilled salmon, parmesan-encrusted tilapia..and the list goes on.

Knowing my obsession for bottom feeders and things that swim, I went online to peruse the Anna Maria Oyster Bar menu prior to meeting with friends, lest the group die of starvation while waiting for me to make up my mind.
